Hazel Hurdles
Either woven in situ or panels hazel hurdles are a lot more robust than willow and always used with split hazel. Split hazel makes it all more breathable and as a result longer lasting. Hazel hurdles should last a minimum of 7 years and can be treated to last up to 12/13 years. As with willow the treatment is a mixture of linseed oil and turps that can be either brushed or sprayed on.
When woven in situ these hurdles look spectacular-following the contours of the land and blends in beautifully into the landscape. Ideal to replace standard fencing, screening, windbreaks and animal enclosures.
As they let the air pass through them they not only will never blow over but they will also make the garden warmer as it stops wind burn. I coppice from late September through to March and hurdles are available from October through till early June.
