Wethar with sawn or cleft wood these gate fit beautifully into the  landscape made with traditional tools. Cleft wood involves carefully splitting the timber along the grain and then smoothing it off with a drawknife. Cleaving the wood along the grain makes it stronger than sawn timber as your following the grain and not cutting across it as you do with sawn timber. As a result you get a gate with beautiful natural strength and variations in the timber making it a complete unique gate to you. As Sweet Chestnut and Oak are naturally durable timbers there is no need to treat the wood and it will silver up over the years. Bespoke hinges and fittings can be supplied to match the gate.

 From an Oak frame and Hazel infill to pure cleft Sweet Chestnut with handmade Copper rose head nails gates can be made to bespoke designs too. Gates can be installed with matching cleft or round posts to match.
